Gloucester County Chiefs Honor Archie Roemmich
 of the Billingsport Fire Association

50 Years of Dedicated Service

Archie D. Roemmich – joined the Billingsport Volunteer Fire Association on November 21, 1961

Husband to Elizabeth, father of Glenn, Lisa, Terri and Gary.  He has 5 grandchildren, 1 great grand child and still finds time to actively volunteer to the fire company that has become his second family.

He rose through the ranks holding the offices of  Assistant Engineer in 1965, Chief Engineer in 1966, Lieutenant in 1969, Captain in 1970  and Battalion Fire Chief from 1974 until serving as Borough Fire Chief in 1986 and 1987.  He has served as an Assistant fire Marshall since 1990.

Archie has served as the Financial Secretary and trustee of the Billingsport Volunteer Fire Assn. for many years.  He also serves as the President of the Paulsboro Firemen's Relief Association, and the Paulsboro Exempt Firemen's Association.

He has represented the Paulsboro Fire Department around our state as a Committee Man, 2ndVice President,1st Vice President, and President of the NJ State Exempt Association.  He is a past president of the Gloucester County Fire Chiefs Association and of the Delaware Valley Fire Chiefs Association

One of the original members of the Gloucester County Fire Academy, Archie has mentored hundreds of would be firefighters through his years in the fire service.  Every year in October you can count on Archie to be there to visit the schools during fire prevention to help explain all the equipment that a fire fighter uses to each bright eyed child passing by the fire truck.

Always reading fire magazines and bulletins has made Archie invaluable to providing up to date information to his fellow fire fighters on the ever changing world of firefighting.

Besides being active with the Fire Company, Archie is also a very active member of the Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in Paulsboro.   It was for his service to the Community and service to his church, for which he was awarded the Saint Florian Medal of Mercy by the Gloucester County Fire Chiefs Association in May of this year during the Annual Feast of Saint Florian service held at Christ Church in Woodbury.

For his many years of unselfish volunteering, and his enthusiasm to share the knowledge he has obtained through the years we honor Archie Roemmich for 50 years of Dedicated Service to the Paulsboro Fire Department.
